On Windows, EnSight starting with 9.0 is built both 32bit and 64bit (all installation pacakages include both 32 and 64bit binaries). On a 64bit Windows system (XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8), we will run the 64bit version by default. The 64bit version includes support for large amounts of RAM (>2GB) and in most tests runs 10-20% faster than the 32bit version (actual performance gains vary by the specific operations).
For a Windows 7 system. Is EnSight10 written in 64 bit or just runs on a 64 bit system?
For a Windows 7 system. Is EnSight10 written in 64 bit, or a 32 bit program that runs on a 64 bit system? If there is a 64 bit program what are the advantages over the 32 bit version?
